Conduit

It was because I had been knitting socks using four needles that the idea for this piece came to me.

It is made from plastic bags that the same well known mail order company mentioned for ‘Deep Blue’ use as the outer packaging for their clothing (yes, two layers of plastic pollution).

This plastic is tougher and thicker than the other plastic bags, so the scale had to be bigger for the construction to work.

After some experimentation I ended up making my own circular knitting needles from wooden dowel and plastic tubing and creating a yarn by cutting the bags in a continuous spiral.
